Fall Cleanup and instructions

It's October already!  There is a frost predicted for Sunday night and Monday night, Monday being the most likely. If you still have tender vegetables or flowers you want to save, you need to either pick them or cover them Sunday night, then again on Monday night. After that, the weather will moderate some.

When you are done gardening for the season:

  1. Take down any fencing, posts, decorations or hardscaping.

  2. If you got the materials from the shed, please return them there. Try to put them away as neatly as you can.

  3. Leave your plants in place. We will cut them down and prepare the garden for planting in the spring.

  4. Please try to remove stakes and anything that might get caught in a rototiller before the snow falls.

  5. Please put your garden sign in one of the pots/tubs in the shed so we can use them again next season.

Tender vegetables include tomatoes and peppers. Kale and other cabbage family plants as well as any root vegetables can survive a hard frost and will be good until it snows. Flowers are fairly tender, so pick any you want to save before the frost.
