Leaves are falling

Caroline Abbott

In a week or so, we will be raking the leaves up and onto the garden plots. So, now it is time to take down your fences and posts and any other hardware in your garden plot if you have not already done so. Please put the t-posts that belong to the garden in the shed. If you own the fencing, take it home. Otherwise, anything in the shed is considered community property so others could use it next season.

Remember to leave your vegetation in place. Sunflowers or corn should be knocked down to the ground if possible. Anything else is fine left as it is. The leaves will bury the plants and over the winter everything will decay down into compost right in place. You may still use the compost bins for any vegetative matter and kitchen scraps. The turner is sitting out by the bins. Just twist it into the compost after adding anything to keep it stirred up.

Be sure to put any signs, stakes or other decorations away so they don't get buried and caught in the rototiller in the spring.

Thank you all for a great season! Be watching for an email next spring when it is time to start up again!
