Very Important Information

I am sorry I have not taken the time to communicate much this season. It has come to my attention that vegetables are being harvested from plots without the owner's permission. This is very distressful to the gardeners who have worked hard all season to grow vegetables for their own use, then just when they are about ready for harvest, they disappear. I know that members of the community may be responsible, not understanding that a community garden does not mean that anyone can pick from any plot.

Here is what I am asking:

  1. If you see anyone harvesting vegetables you do not recognize, please approach them and ask if they have permission, then explain the rules of the garden.

  2. If you are able/willing go ahead and put some type of "no trespassing" sign in your plot.

I will attempt to get some new signs down there later in the week, but if you have time and materials, feel free to put up signs yourselves.

Also, please be sure to turn off the hose when you are done watering. The church has to pay the water bill for our use, so we need to be careful not to waste water.

I know it has been a hot and dry season, which makes it even more discouraging when vegetables disappear. Try to look out for one another and help the community to understand our purpose.

Thank you all so much! Please don't give up on gardening! We will figure out a way to get the message across.
